Class Commentary on 1 & 2 Thessalonians

addthis

Establishing the church of Christ in Macedonia at Thessalonica was a test case in the Apostle Paul s evangelism. This work was the first major effort among people of Greek extraction and would indicate whether the Greeks were going to be receptive and faithful to the message of Christ. Though the Thessalonians needed special instruction and encouragement regarding the need to work for a living, and to wait on the Lord s return, the Thessalonians became faithful Christians. In fact, as Paul and Silas tried to tell others in the Greek world about the Thessalonians reception of the Gospel, it became unnecessary because the news had already spread about it (1 Thess. 1:8-9).

As in all Gary Hampton’s commentaries, each chapter is followed by helpful questions for use in class and personal study.
